  28. Language review: Model verbs • Ability We use can to say that someone or sth. is able/ not able to do sth. Could is used for a past ability. e.g. She can speak three languages fluently. He can’t find his briefcase. He could write computer programs when he was ten years old.

  29. Language review: Model verbs • Obligation: We use must or has/ have to to indicate what is compulsory. e.g. Production costs must not exceed $400,000. We have to relocate our factory for lower rent. You don’t have to answer that question.
