Peer Consultation • Goals: • Practice listening, paraphrasing and positive feedback • Practice ‘elevator speech’ technique for your project • Practice brainstorming and problem solving in small group • Practice consulting with peers about technical issues • Practice recording ideas in short form, but with enough detail so that they can be understood later • Practice all this with a time limit • What might improve this activity next time?

  4. Your Website or Blog • Visual effect is very important • Design on paper first: • How many webpages? (eg: if you have more than 1 audience, or a lot of diff kinds of info...) • What graphics will help? (photos, charts, maps, logo, cliparts). A picture can be worth a 1000 words so choose carefully. • What would appeal to your audience? Sample: http://ibiotp.weebly.com

  5. Wikis & Websites • A wiki is just a website which allows for collaborative work with many authors. For your project you may use a wiki or a website. There are many options, here are two: 1. Creating Online Surveys • Which type of Question? • Connecting questions • Side-by-side questions • Instructions & Headers • Branching =Page, Advanced Branching Wizard • Visual Editor = change fonts, add links etc • Theme = colours, images etc • Which kind of report? • Note: you may use any survey tool you wish. How to Start a Literature Review • Start with narrowing down your topic so that you can limit to about 5 docs. • Highlight key phrases from each • Create a rough bulleted summary for each • Look at all the points and determine how to group them. Then organize the groups with and add strong opening & concluding lines. • For this project, organize the groups into these three categories: a) Key ideas and how do they support each other? b) What are the controversies? c) What are the ‘holes’ in the research?
