Peer Consultation • Goals: • Practice listening, paraphrasing and positive feedback • Practice ‘elevator speech’ technique for your project • Practice brainstorming and problem solving in small group • Practice consulting with peers about technical issues • Practice recording ideas in short form, but with enough detail so that they can be understood later • Practice all this with a time limit • What might improve this activity next time?
Your Website or Blog • Visual effect is very important • Design on paper first: • How many webpages? (eg: if you have more than 1 audience, or a lot of diff kinds of info...) • What graphics will help? (photos, charts, maps, logo, cliparts). A picture can be worth a 1000 words so choose carefully. • What would appeal to your audience? Sample: http://ibiotp.weebly.com
Wikis & Websites • A wiki is just a website which allows for collaborative work with many authors. For your project you may use a wiki or a website. There are many options, here are two: 1. Website: go to www.weebly.com 2. Wiki: go to: www.pbworks.com Choose Free and select option for Gr K-12 Education
Blogs • There are many free blog hosting options, here are 3: • Blog www.blog.com • Blogger www.blogger.com • Wordpresswww.wordpress.com I have created a Blog for iBioTp. You are invited to join and practice blogging: http://ibiotp.blogspot.ca/
Creating Online Surveys • Which type of Question? • Connecting questions • Side-by-side questions • Instructions & Headers • Branching =Page, Advanced Branching Wizard • Visual Editor = change fonts, add links etc • Theme = colours, images etc • Which kind of report? • Note: you may use any survey tool you wish. Here is one: www.fluidsurveys.com
How to Start a Literature Review • Start with narrowing down your topic so that you can limit to about 5 docs. • Highlight key phrases from each • Create a rough bulleted summary for each • Look at all the points and determine how to group them. Then organize the groups with and add strong opening & concluding lines. • For this project, organize the groups into these three categories: a) Key ideas and how do they support each other? b) What are the controversies? c) What are the ‘holes’ in the research?

Using Gantt Charts How to Show Progress on Gantt Charts Two ways to do this: • View, Toolbars, Tracking (updating several tasks) • Tools, Tracking, Update Tasks (updating one task) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wasdZ8xlB8&feature=related How to Show Critical Path on Gantt Charts • MS 2010 Critical path http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyGb-cf_gQg
