Journal #5 Epigraph 9.9.13 • Write the definition in your journal • Epigraph-In literature, an epigraph is a phrase, quotation, or poem that is set at the beginning of a work or chapter. The epigraph may serve as a preface, as a summary, as a counter-example, or to link the work to a larger idea or work. • Select ONE epigraph from Into the Wild • Write the original author and the page # on which it appears in the book • Then write a full explanation of the purpose of the epigraph. What does it serve to do? Why did Krakauer include it? Explain thoroughly (as if I am dumb!)
