  4. What is circulocution? It is an ambiguous or roundabout figure of speech. In its most basic form, circumlocution is using many words to describe something for which a concise and commonly known expression exists. For example: a tool used for cutting things such as paper and hair: scissors

  5. Why is circumlocution effective in the language classroom? It allows students to stay in the target language when they forget or do not know a word It helps students with limited vocabulary to get their point across It develops language fluency, as students negotiate meaning

  7. Developing the Skill Circumlocution is a skill and it must be practiced! These are some common structures
