  3. Jesus Marveled… • At great faith, Matt. 8:8-10 • Sees & honors it,8:5-8, 13 (11-12); Jno. 12:42-43; Acts 6:7 (Jas. 2:20); 10:43 • Will receive according to our faith,8:13; 1 Jno. 5:4-5

  4. Jesus Marveled… • At unbelief, Mark 6:4-6 • Hardened hearts in spite of overwhelming evidence (6:2-3); Heb. 3:12-13 • Don’t be complacent about Jesus! • No advantage to sin,Heb. 11:25; Isa. 59:2; Rom. 6:23 • Only Jesus can save you, Matt. 11:28

  5. The Apostles Marveled… • At the power of Jesus, Matt. 8:23-27 • Lord over nature • Put faith in Him, Matt. 16:16; Jno. 1:1-3 • Gives redemption, knowledge of God, this universe & its constancy, the church – Col. 1:14-18

  6. The Apostles Marveled… • At the teaching practices of Jesus, John 4:27 • Knew human need, Lk. 19:10 • He taught sinners, Mk. 2:13-17 • Immoral, criminal, skeptics, religious zealots, morally good, culturally diverse… • So must we!

  9. We Need Not Marvel… • At the need for conversion, Jno. 3:7 (3, 5) • New birth, cf. Col. 1:13; Acts 3:19 • The “new man”, Eph. 4:17-24 • At the coming day of judgment, Jno. 5:26-29 • Executed by Jesus Christ, Acts 17:31 • By means of His word, Jno. 12:48

  10. Why do you marvel at this? • Jesus’ power, mercy & truth • Live by faith in Christ • Be converted • Live in Christ…Christ in you • Hope of eternal life
