Navigating Asylum Interviews: USCIS Updated Language Assistance Policy Starting on September 13, 2023, if you're applying for asylum and aren't fluent in English, you'll need to bring your own interpreter to the interview. This also applies if you prefer to be interviewed in a language other than English.
