  1. The Annual General Meeting Session purpose: to discuss and present possible ideas and methods for the AGM process In this section: AGM Checklist Setting the Agenda Selecting the topic & Selection/Election process 25th anniversary of UNCRC Commemoration Fund Toolkit reference: pp. 87- 146.

The objective of the AGM is three-fold: • To discuss and explore issues of importance to young people and identify one or two issues that will provide the focus of the work for Comhairle nanÓg over the term of office. • To provide feedback to the broader group of young people on the progress made over the course of the year. • To elect/select young people to progress the issues of importance to the broader group.   3. When is the AGM?

Key Roles: facilitators, note-takers, briefings • Practical preparations: date, venue, etc. • Resources: displaying work from previous year, etc. • Promotion: leaflets, photographer, draft press release, etc. • Selecting young people: relationship with schools, invitations to wide group of young people, etc. • Issues for discussion with Comhairle: methodology, how to select topic, final agenda, etc. (See hand-out with full checklist) Checklist before AGM

  7. UNCRC 25th Anniversary 2014 CNN established in 2001 to honour the UNCRC in particular Article 12 Four guiding principles of the UNCRC inform CNN workplans DCYA made once off commemoration fund available to each CNN to promote and celebrate Children’s Rights

  8. Commemoration Fund Host a bigger AGM, ensuring involvement of seldom heard YPs Include more YP under the age of 16 Focus on children and young people’s rights into the AGM Use branding supplied & involve local media
