Panther Points • Green X-missing an assignment • Red X-behavior issue; documented in the notes section • Black X-not prepared for all classes • Blue X-bathroom break outside of our scheduled times • 2 points lost=silent lunch/walk laps • 3 points lost=parent contact • 4 points lost=office referral • Critical choices are sent directly to the office-i.e. stealing, fighting, extreme disrespect, etc.
GradingSedge Garden will now use a computerized grade book for report cards and progress reports. Students and parents will see the numerical number grade for each subject. Grading Scale Range: • A 93-100 • B 85 – 92 • C 77 – 84 • D 70 - 76 • F 60 - 69
Homework • Usually assigned Monday – Thursday • Reading, spelling, and math • Practice math facts nightly • Purpose of homework is to extend the learning experience • Parents should initial student’s planner and panther points each day

End of Quarter Testing • Used to review the skills taught each quarter • Used for assessment purposes only – not part of their report card grade • Same format as End of Grade Testing to help prepare students • Math and Reading are the subjects tested
End of Grade Testing • Based on Standard Course of Study • One day testing in Reading • Two days testing in Math (one day is calculator active and one is calculator inactive) • Multiple Choice Questions to assess the achievement of North Carolina students
Field Trips(with tentative dates) • 1st Quarter – Zoo October 6th • 2nd Quarter – TBD • 3rd Quarter –Catawba Science Center comes to SGES for “squid science”- March 1 or 2 • 4th Quarter – Old Salem- April 12 or 13
Volunteer Information • If you want to volunteer, you will need to be approved as at least a Level 1 volunteer. • Please pick up a Volunteer handout that outlines the requirements for volunteers and how to get to the website to obtain approval.
Tuesday Packets • Important information will go home with your child every Tuesday • Papers on the left need to be reviewed and returned to school • Papers on the right are for your information and you may keep these at home • Prompt return of the packets and information required is appreciated
