Technology and our Lives • We see that our lives have become easier…we’re no longer responsible for some things • We begin doing less and machines begin doing more • Does this leave us with fewer skills? Or does it just give us the time to do more?
Attached To Technology • We are all dependent upon the technology around us • Think of the last time there was a blackout in your house. Remember how you couldn’t wait for the power to come back on? Think if it never did.
Dangers • While technology does do many great things, it has totally changed our lives from what they were a hundred years ago. • Don’t you think its important to watch and be careful about new technology that comes out? Especially if we, our future generations will become attached to it.
Ethics and Technology • Ethics are: “The study of the general nature of morals and of the specific moral choices to be made by a person; moral philosophy”. • When we put this together with technology it means that we have to examine new technologies with a moral lens…not just is it faster or easier, but is it in our best interest?

Before you go…REMEMBER • Science and technology greatly influence our lives • As we get more technology, we come dependent on it • We need to make sure to examine new technologies ethically in order to make sure they are in our best interest
Just Do It… • Get into your groups from yesterday • Take out your closure activities and talk about them • As a group, choose 3 to make sure you include in your debate
You’ve got 15 minutes • Go ahead and finish up your debate as a group • Pick your speaker for the class • You’ve got 15 minutes
Closure… • Answer the following questions: • Has your opinion of technology changed after this lesson? If so, how? If not, has it at least made you think more about it? • What is your opinion about stem cell research now? How did you form it?
