  4. 30,000 children in developing countries die daily from preventable causes - half from hunger

  5. An estimated 1.1 billion people live in extreme poverty – incomes of less than $1 day

  6. But there is hope

  7. In September, 2000, 189 government leaders came together for one reason To eliminate extreme poverty across the planet

  8. Their goals…

  9. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger

  10. Achieve universal primary education

  11. Promote gender equality and empower women

  12. Reduce childhood mortality

  13. Improve maternal health

  14. Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and other diseases

  15. Ensure environmental stability

  16. Develop a global partnership for development

  17. Specifically,cut extreme poverty in half by 2015 And eliminate it by 2025

  18. For an additional $13 billion, basic health & nutrition needs of the worlds poorest could be met That’s about $50 per US citizen
