WHY DID AFRICA GN LAUCH EAP? The Africa GN decided that the focus of its activities would be entrepreneurship and HIV/Aids due to the high rates of unemployment and poverty. Thus the birth of the Empowering Africa Program that sought to fight these problems by finding solutions for young people by young people. AIESEC NAIROBI
YOUNG ENTREPENUERS The Young Entrepreneurs programme aims at promoting youth enterprise by facilitating a series of seminars aimed at educating youth from institutions of higher learning within Nairobi on how to start and run a business in Kenya. The aim of the program is to present entrepreneurship as a viable option for youth employment by developing the skills and competencies needed to start and run a business. AIESEC NAIROBI
YOUNG ENTREPENUERS This is done through a comprehensive 15 week program facilitated by DTs recruited through Global Talent Exchange Program. The DTs bring with them best-case-practices and case studies on youth enterprise from their countries. They work with established local entrepreneurs who provide mentorship for the aspiring entrepreneurs and present their personal experience in starting and running a business. The program culminates in a business plan writing competition. The business plans are then evaluated by a panel of jurists comprised of business leaders, venture capitalists and established entrepreneurs based on originality, response to market needs and viability. The four best business plans will be awarded with start-up capital. AIESEC NAIROBI
A.S.K Answer Solution and Knowledge around Aids (ASK) Customised to our Kenyan reality we came up with ASK project named ‘A Tribe Called Kenya’. The increase intolerance of the diverse cultures of Kenya has precipitated a volatile situation, especially among the youth in the society, majority of who live in the informal settlement housing areas. AIESEC NAIROBI
A.S.K • As a student run organization whose vision is peace and fulfilment of human kind’s potential • AIESEC recognizes the need to incorporate learning around HIV / AIDS for the youth together with healing the social rift in our society and expression of our cultures through art and design. • This project therefore seeks to bring together people from diverse backgrounds to a harmonious global learning environment. AIESEC NAIROBI
BOUNJOUR ICT • BONJOUR ICT is a training program that is designed to target schools in slum areas. As the name suggests, it will entail making ICT and French basic knowledge available to the young energetic students in such schools. • The knowledge gap that exists in the slum area on topics to do with ICT and language teaching is tremendous. When an opportunity to salvage the situation arose, AIESEC Nairobi jumped at the opportunity. AIESEC NAIROBI
ENVIRONMENT • Environmental awareness is not a priority for majority of Africans. Preservation of our precious ecosystems is seen as a hindrance to our economic development. With our economies being heavily sustained by farming and emergence of industrialisation there is a need for the public to realise the impact we are making on our environment. AIESEC NAIROBI
ENVIRONMENT • This project aims to bring about environmental awareness amongst Kenyan’s. By targeting community based organizations and taking them through sessions on environment and how they can benefit from investing ‘green’. AIESEC NAIROBI
