Guidelines for Families • Principles for Developing Families of Courses • When leveling courses, Roman Numerals (I, II, III) are best for articulation. • All courses do not have to be in families. • Be cautious of creating families which are too broad. • Ensure there are programmatic justifications for leveling courses. • Do not proliferate families unnecessarily.
Grading on Attendance • Title 5 § 55002(a)(2)(A) – “Grades are intended to reflect the student’s performance in terms of course objectives and the students subject matter proficiency as opposed to a disciplinary option.” • Title 5 §58004 – “The failure to attend described in section 58004 (no shows or excessive unexcused absences) MUST be addressed by dropping the student from the class; a district cannot continue the student in the class and lower the grade for nonattendance.” • San Diego City College Faculty Resource • How do you handle attendance in your syllabus?
