  1. I Corinthians 2:6-3:3 6We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.

  2. I Corinthians 2:6-3:3 7No, we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

  3. I Corinthians 2:6-3:3 9However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him” - 10but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.

  4. I Corinthians 2:6-3:3 The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

  5. I Corinthians 2:6-3:3 12We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.

  6. I Corinthians 2:6-3:3 14The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

  7. I Corinthians 2:6-3:3 15The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment: 16"For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ.

  8. I Corinthians 2:6-3:3 I Corinthians 3 1Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly – mere infants in Christ. 2I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. Are you not acting like mere men?

  9. I Corinthians 2:6-3:3 3You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere men?

  10. Do We Have the Mind of Christ? I Corinthians 2:1-16; 3:1-3

  11. Three Kinds of People • Natural • Carnal • Spiritual

  12. Natural Person • Does not accept the things of the Spirit of God • Does not understand the word of God • Tries to understand God with his five senses • Can never please God because he is so focused on himself

  13. Carnal Person • Carnality/psuchikos is a built-in law of failure. • The carnal man is the “Christian who has obeyed Christ initially,” but “is not trusting God.” • The religious/carnal man does good things solely out of fear of judgment.

  14. Spiritual Person Pneumatikos, 1. from the Spirit, pertaining to the Spirit (I Cor 2:13ab; 12:1) 2. spiritual (Eph 1:3; Mk 16:15; I Cor 12:9) 3. of spiritual conduct, a pattern of lifecontrolled by spirit (I Cor 3:1)

  15. Identifying Marks of “The Spiritual Person” • A spiritual person is filled with the Holy Spirit. • A spiritual person is led by the Holy Spirit. • A spiritual person produces fruits of the Spirit.
