PP0 & Service Panels • Introduction • Technical Status • Goals for 2002 M. Garcia-Sciveres -- PP0 & Service Panels
Introduction PP0 region. All services break here X-section through service panels 3-D view of panels Service panels run from detector end to end of support tube M. Garcia-Sciveres -- PP0 & Service Panels
PP0 • Power wires need to be cooled • Opto boards must be kept below 20C • Dedicated cooling loop Optoboards 12 PPO Flex Boards connect Electrical cables from modules to Optical & electrical services M. Garcia-Sciveres -- PP0 & Service Panels
PP0 Schematic M. Garcia-Sciveres -- PP0 & Service Panels
Technical Status:PP0 V.1 • First PP0 prototype fabricated Jan. 2001 • Rapidly became electrically obsolete • Demonstrated folding technique to produce very long flex. Method works but, • Yield is low & cost is high because surface area is large M. Garcia-Sciveres -- PP0 & Service Panels
Technical Status:PP0 V.2 • Need second prototype to: • Continue service integration work • Prepare for system test • Module connector pinout specified • HV on separate connector decided • Will use micro-welded aluminum ribbon instead of folded flex cable • Waiting for Opto-board power requirements to be decided M. Garcia-Sciveres -- PP0 & Service Panels
Technical Status:Service Panel M. Garcia-Sciveres -- PP0 & Service Panels
Technical Status:PP1 EndPossible implementation Aluminum power wires w/ gold-plated ends soldered to small flex tail with 180 pin SMT connector here This flex board carries 160A and dissipates 3.5W 6 cm BOTTOM TOP M. Garcia-Sciveres -- PP0 & Service Panels
2002 Goals:PP0 • Fabricate V.2 prototype • Fab. $3K • Connectors $3K • Outside assembly $1K • Testing 80 hours technician • Microwelding 40 hours technician • Totals • $7K • 120 hours technician M. Garcia-Sciveres -- PP0 & Service Panels
2002 Goals:Service Panel • Assemble one electrical panel with carbon fiber face sheets • Mechanical materials $1K • Aluminum wires $2K • Gold plating of wires 40 hours shop • Qualification tests for wires 80 hours tech. • PP1 end connector tail fabrication & assembly $3K • Assembly 60 hours tech. • Testing 80 hour tech. • Totals • $6K • 220 hours technician • 40 hours shop M.
