  5. Habitat / Number of Species • about 3,500 known species of frogs and 300 species of toads • Habitat: Some frogs and toad will spend most or their entire life in water or near it. And there are some who live most on land but go in to the water for reproduction. • about 500 species of salamanders • Salamanders reside in water or in very moist areas on land such as under logs, rocks and near streams. Wherever the ground is moist and shaded from the sun. • 50 species of Caecilians • found in South America, Africa, and Asia.
