Patient History • 79 Year Old Caucasian Male • Hypertension, Anosmia, Hearing loss • History of Basal Cell Carcinoma (‘05, ‘10) on temporal region. • Recurring polyps in nasal cavity removed every 6 months. • Pt Allergic to Lipitor and Advil • Presented in general clinic for periodic diagnosis.

  3. Lesion Description • Pt presents with two small dark lesions on mandibular left alveolar ridge in the area of 2nd PM and 2nd Molar. Pt has noticed lesions before but is asymptomatic. Lesions have been present for many years and have never changed in shape or size. Both lesions are circular and flat with well-defined borders and appear to be in epithelium. Anterior lesion is approximately 2-3mm in diameter and posterior lesion is approximately 5-7mm in diameter.

  4. Dialogue • How long have these lesions been present? (many years) • Have lesions changed in shape/size? (no) • Did teeth on lower left have amalgam restorations present when they were extracted? (yes) • Do you have a family history of Peutz-Jegher’sSyndrome? (no) • Have you ever had melanoma? (no) • Are these lesions currently present anywhere else? Have they ever been? (no)

  5. Diagnosis • Differential Diagnosis • Amalgam Tattoo • Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome • Melanoma • Provisional Diagnosis • Amalgam Tattoo No Treatment is necessary for Amalgam Tattoo.
