  4. How to prepare for a job interview: • Research the company. • Learn why the company needs the position filled. • Get good directions to the interview location and plan to be early. • Learn how to pronounce the interviewer’s name. • Practice interviewing until you feel confident.

  5. What TO DO on a job interview I have 103 applications on my desk …all for the same job. So what makes YOU think I should hire YOU?

  6. What TO DO on a job interview: Arrive early…and bring a copy of your resume Smile; be positive. Pronounce the interviewer’s name correctly. Wait until you are offered a chair to sit. Shake hands firmly. Don’t say derogatory things about your present or former employers.

  7. Other important job interview tips: • Turn your cell phone off. • Don’t chew gum. • Don’t answer with a simple “yes” or “no”. Interviewers want to know what you think. • Don’t over-answer questions. • Steer clear of controversial subjects…even if the interviewer brings them up. • Wait to ask about salary, vacations, bonuses, retirement plan…unless they are interested in hiring you. • If you are asked about the salary you expect, say you are interested in the job opportunity. If “pushed” give a salary range.

How to Dress for an Interview • First Impressions Make a Difference. • Don’t just look good…look great! • Dress for the job you are seeking. • NEVER EVER show up for an interview In casual clothes like jeans and a t-shirt. FACT: 51% of hiring managers say that the most common interview mistake a candidate can makeis dressing inappropriately.

  11. Guys! Ideas for Interview Attire • Long sleeve buttoned down collared shirt • Little or no studs, earrings, etc. • Hair—recently cut • Facial hair—trimmed • Nails trimmed • Limit the aftershave • Folder with Resume • No visible tattoos

  12. Girls! Ideas for Interview Attire • Shirt or sweater, no teeshirts! • Limited jewelry • Well groomed hair and nails • Clean dark pants or jeans • If you wear a skirt, it should be long enough to be able to sit comfortably • Folder for Resume
