Application of Campaign+ Level Modeling using DMOES for Coast Guard Force Planning IDS OV-1 – ICGS 2002 MSI/USCG - Informs 2003 - Atlanta, GA
Abstract • The Deepwater Maritime Operational Effectiveness Simulation (DMOES) model was developed to support assessment of large scale, integrated “systems of systems” for Coast Guard maritime, multi-mission and military operations. Air, surface, C4ISR and logistics components are tied together with CONOPS and CONLOG to execute Coast Guard missions in response to multiple, concurrent threats and demands. The model has been extended and applied to Coast Guard force planning efforts. • Authors • Patrick J. Ryan. Conclusions/Take Aways • CG Has Limited Force Planning Resources • Challenged to Address Expanding Missions & Increasing Demand For Services • Utilizing System of Systems Approach to Force Structure & Acquisition • M&S Essential to Manage/Measure & Provide Insights into System Tradeoffs • DMOES Is A Robust, Performance-Based Campaign + Model • Supports System of Systems and Aligns With GPRA & PMA Guidelines • Campaign Modeling is Applicable to Force Structure Development & Assessment • Provides CG & Congress Visibility into Performance Level for Investments MSI/USCG - Informs 2003 - Atlanta, GA
