SAV BPA • Purpose: • SAV a critical indicator • Data delivered in May • Communication requirement: data delivery in March • IMS Role: • Evaluate production process • Seek efficiencies in process • Recommend efficiencies to achieve timeliness goal
SAV BPA • 1st of many BPA’s • SAV: good 1st BPA • One provider: VIMS • Excellent documentation: QAPP • Delivering SAV data for many years • Removed many of the inefficiencies already
Conducting the BPA • Interviews: • VIMS staff • SAV data users • SAV field operations • SAIC project team: • Process analysts • Remote sensing expertise from EDC • GIS expertise
VIMS • Existing process was excellent, well documented, scientifically sound • Recognized expertise • Well received • Already took corrective steps to insure delivery of data to meet goals
Challenges • “As Is” BPA • Single provider, but many partners • VIMS already had a finely tuned process in place
Deliverables • Report due Monday • Expectations: • Step-by-step documentation of process • Time associated with each step • Efficiencies associated with each step • Flow chart of process • Recommended efficiencies • Items for future (non-IMS) discussion
Miscellaneous Thoughts • Contractual support valuable • IMS lacks expertise in BPA work • Future BPA’s will have multiple partners • IMS focus on “As Is” • How does IMS handle future BPA’s? • Working to have SAIC present at next IMS & LRCS meetings
