Common & Proper Nouns • Common:the general name for animals, people, places, things, & ideas • (uses the, a, an) • Proper:the specific name for animals, people, places, things, & ideas • (ALWAYS Capitalized).

Singular & Plural Nouns (Regular) • Singular:only one noun • Plural:more than one • Add “s”, “es”, or “ies” to make it plural • word ends with consonant - add ‘s’ • word ends with x, z, ch, sh - add ‘es’ • word ends with y - change y to i add es

Sentence Structure: • the subject either does something or is something • Verbs are the subject’s action • or • the subject’s existence
