Fire • Always know where the fire extinguisher and fire blanket are. Ex. If a fire started and the teacher wasn’t in the room you would need the fire extinguisher. • Keep flammable stuff away from fire. Ex. If you had trash on your desk and it caught on fire you could start a big fire.
Chemical • Never directly small a chemical, always waft. Ex. If you were dealing with chlorine and you smelled it directly the fumes wouldn’t be good for you. • If you spill a chemical on you immediately go wash your skin with cold water. Ex. If you had acid and you spilled on your hand you would need to rinse it off so it didn’t burn.
Equipment • Always use equipment in the right the way, you could get hurt if you play around. Ex. If you were playing with a scalpel you could get stabbed and that would hurt really bad. • Don’t leave equipment out put it back where you found it. Ex. If you left a container out that had dangerous chemicals and some one touched it they could get hurt (even though that would be stupid).
Rules and Procedures • Never start a lab without a teacher’s permission. Ex. If you started a lab but there was a problem with it you could get hurt or make a mess. • Never eat, drink, or chew gum during a lab. Ex. You had a drink on the table and poisonous chemical splashed in it and you drank it then you would die.
