Battle of Dorylaeum • This battle was almost a disaster for the crusaders. • They where slaughtered by Turkish archers. • 50,000 soldiers of Kilij Arslan, Seljuk Sultan of Rum attacked from the side. • The crusader’s army had 150,000 to 350,000 men. • The crusaders were forced back to their camps. • Duke Godfrey helped them defeat the Turkish army. “Rickard”

  12. Battle of Ascalon • The last battle of the First Crusades. • Al-Afdal raised 50,000 men to recapture the city. • Godfrey of Bouillon called scattered crusaders together. • The 10,000 crusaders were out numbered 5 to 1. • They charged Al-Afdal army by surprise.
