  2. Conventions What are the conventions of a music video? Artist – A representation of the artist is shown. Costume - The codes of dress reflect the mood of the song. Lyric interpretation - The lyrics of the song influence what is shown on screen in someway. Extending or consolidating the song’s meaning – Does the music video add another or different meaning than the lyrics alone. Links to other artists – Music videos often make reference to or include other artists Performance/dancing/concert/storyline Locations; House, party, city, demographic (depending on genre)
