  1. ROK Shield is a non-toxic, water based chemical formulation that actually penetrates glass by filling in the structural pores. When clear Mylar film is placed onto the glass, ROK Shield bonds the glass and film together which converts ordinary glass into a high strength protective shield. • ROK Shield has many uses. It protects against: • “Smash & Grab” type thefts • Projectiles during hurricanes • Blasts and fragmentation often associated with blast events. • Ballistic forces. ROK Shield can protect glass from most handguns† • Radio frequency and Infra Red intrusion †Different glass thicknesses and film combinations are used to achieve different protection levels. See a ROK PSI representative for more information. ROK Shield Application Instructions Items and Tools Required for Installation • ROK Shield formula • 1 roll of clear PET film∞. 15 mil is typically used • “Thor’s Hammer” type hand held squeegee • with 5 inch x 1-3/8 inch Blue Max blade (NO bevel) • Flat Razor/scraper • Cutting razor • Lint-free cloths or towels • Glass cleaner ∞ROK PSI typically uses Lumar for testing; However, other film companies are qualified for use with ROK Shield product. Contact ROK PSI for further recommendations, 713.467.6999.

  2. Application Instructions ROK Shield should always be installed by ROK trained personnel. The instructions within demonstrate ROK Shield application onto sample glass only. Please contact a ROK PSI professional prior to installing ROK Shield onto a full sized window. Step I Using a glass cleaner product (or mixture of denatured alcoholand water), spray the surface of the glass and wipe clean. Ensuring to remove all loose debris, streaks, and other contaminants. Step II Wipe glass clean with lint-free cloth or towel, and spray glass cleaner onto glass a second time. Then using a flat razor/scraper†, draw it across the glass surface in smooth even strokes. Ensure that each new stroke is adjacent to the prior one so that the entire glass surface is scraped clean. If glass has roller stress, use a teflonscrub pad. This process removes all fine debris which is down in the open pores of the glass surface. Allow glass to dry thoroughly. †For Larger windows, use an Unger light duty scraper with handle extension

  3. Step III Shake ROK Shield container for 60 seconds, and then onto glass surface. Ensure to coat entire surface so that glass is thoroughly and uniformly coated with ROK Shield formula. Then, peel release liner from pre-measured, pre-cut film. Spray ROK Shield onto the adhesive side of the film as the liner is pulled away. Step IV Seat film onto glass

  4. Step V Wet the entire surface of the film with ROK Shield, and squeegee the film with a Thor’s Hammer type squeegee, (with Blue Max squeegee blade), which will cause it to bond to the glass. ROK recommends that the strike face of the film be coated with ROK Shield to prevent the film from being scratched. Step VI Starting at the top of the window using a Thor’s Hammer type squeegee, draw squeegee along the top edge of the film from one side to the other. Next squeegee from the top middle of the window straight down (about 2 feet when applying to an 8 foot window). Return to the top middle again and this time using diagonal strokes squeegee using downward overlapping strokes out to the left side of the center, and then to the right side. Continue this pattern until the bottom of the window is reached. The squeegee process must be done at a fast but steady pace to prevent the ROK Shield from drying out too quickly. DO NOT force air pockets and bubbles towards the center.

  5. Step VII Trim film edges as necessary to fit to glass surface. • ROK Shield should be allowed to cure for 72 hours. Allow initial layer of film to cure 24 hours before additional layers are placed onto original glass &film bond. Successive layers can be placed within 12 hours of each other. • To place additional layer(s) of film onto original, repeat steps I through VII • If any part of these instructions are unclear, contact ROK Protective Systems • for questions related to the ROK Shield application process. • Guide for achieving desired protection • For 1” Insulated Glass window unit [1/4” of glass, 1/2” air space, and 1/4” glass] Installation of 4 layers of 15 mil. clear Mylar film and ROK Shield : • will stop one 9 mil. Round • Will offer “Smash & Grab” resistance • For 3/8” glass, • Installation of 4 layers of 15 mil. clear Mylar film and ROK Shield : • will protect glass up to NIJ Level IIA • Will offer “Smash & Grab” resistance • For 1/2” glass, • Installation of 2 layers of 15 mil. clear Mylar film and ROK Shield : • will protect glass up to NIJ Level IIA • Will offer “Smash & Grab” resistance
