ROK Flex C is a topical treatment that when applied to concrete creates an impermeable barrier, and protects the concrete from further deterioration. This is particularly helpful when battling erosion caused by acids. It is a two step treatment that consists of: a primer coat, and a top coat. ROK Flex C protects concrete with a protective coating that acts like epoxy, but it’s not brittle. • ROK Flex C has many qualities, including: • Excellent elongation Properties • Strong Resistance to Acids • Protection of concrete surfaces from deterioration • Can be Applied by Spraying, Brushing, or Rolling ROK Flex C Application Instructions Items and Tools Required for Installation • ROK Flex C Components • Jiffy Mixer • Electric Drill • Pressure Pot Sprayer with Air Assist Brushes, or Rollers • Lacquer Thinner The application instructions shown here are for a spray on application. ROK Flex C, however can be brushed on or rolled on using ordinary paint rollers and brushes. The mixing instructions are the same for all applications.
Application Instructions ROK Flex C should always be installed by ROK Protective Systems trained personnel. Step I Clean surface of concrete thoroughly, ensuring that total surface is free of debris, dirt, or other foreign contaminant that may prevent ROK Flex C coating from being applied. Identify ROK Flex C Primer Coat components A and B. Step II Prepare ROK Flex C Primer Coat formula for application. The mixing ratio for the Primer Coat is 1 to 1. When using a two quart kit, this is one quart of A component, and one quart of B component for a total of 2 quarts. Pour each component into a 1 gallon (or more) container, and mix with Jiffy Mixer attached and electric drill for a minimum of 60 seconds.
Step III Load mixed ROK Flex Primer Coat into bottom feed pressure pot sprayer. Hold the spray head about 18” above the surface to be coated, and using gentle “sweeping” motions, spray from left to right or from top to bottom, making sure to keep the spray head as perpendicular as possible to the surface being coated. Build up desired thickness of the ROK Flex C Primer Coat with several passes, but not all at once. Step IV Ensure to clean pressure sprayer and spray head by passing lacquer thinner through the pressure pot sprayer and spraying it out. Step V After surface has been sprayed with ROK Flex C Primer Coat, allow 30 minutes to dry. It will have a “tacky” presence to it, and this means that ROK Flex C Top Coat is now ready to be applied. Identify ROK Flex C Top Coat components A and B
Step VI Mix ROK Flex C Top Coat components A and B together. The ROK Flex C Top Coat components are mixed in a 3 to 1 ratio. This requires one quart of component B mixed into a one gallon container of component A. Mix with Jiffy Mixer attachment and electric drill for 60 seconds until mixture has a consistent blended appearance. Step VII Load mixed ROK Flex Top Coat into bottom feed pressure pot sprayer. Hold the spray head about 18” above the surface to be coated, and using gentle “sweeping” motions, spray from left to right or from top to bottom, making sure to keep the spray head as perpendicular as possible to the surface being coated. Build up desired thickness of the ROK Flex Top Coat with several passes, but not all at once.
Appendix Loading: Additional Items to consider for application: Thixotropic agents also supplied by ROK Protective Systems work well when applying ROK Flex C onto vertical surfaces. They should be mixed into the ROK Flex C Topcoat prior to being placed into the pressure pot sprayer. Equipment: Jiffy Mixer is attached to ordinary electric handheld drill. When a Pressure Pot Sprayer is used. Manufacturer recommends using an air assist atomizing spray head.
