Lakeland Correctional Facility (LCF) • In 1871 a State Public School which provided temporary support/instructions for dependent and neglected children. The facility became the only home in Michigan admitting both normal & handicapped children. • In 1935 became the Michigan Children’s Village-which only admitted children with mild mental impairments.
