  5. GRADUATION OPTIONS RECOMMENDED PLAN Required Credits of 26 4 each of English, Math, Science, Social Studies 1 Credit PE 2 Credits of Same Foreign Language 1 each of Fine Arts, Computer Tech ½ each Health, Speech 4 Additional Components (Electives)
  6. GRADUATION OPTIONSDistinguished Achievement Students should complete all requirements of the Recommended High School Plan Plus an additional Foreign Language credit (in the same language) AND any combination of four of the advanced measures approved by the State Board of Education

ADVANCED MEASURES Original research and/or project judged by a panel of professionals in the field of focus Test data: score of three or above on the College Board Advanced Placement Examination; score of four or above on an International Bacculaureate Examination score on the PSAT that qualifies for recognition as a Commended Scholar or higher College Courses: A grade of 3.0 (B) or higher in courses that count for college credit (dual and/or concurrent enrollment as well as some Tech Prep) Professional License: A license awarded by a professional board or association

Concurrent Enrollment in College Courses HB1 requires all schools to offer students the equivalent of 12 semester hours of college credit while in high school Dual credit partnerships are subject to THECB rules regarding articulation agreements Courses taken at IHEs for high school credit must meet and exceed the TEKS for the courses they replace

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE DIPLOMA PROGRAM Allen High School is one of 50 in Texas; 1 of 2 in Collin County Application process prior to acceptance Must also meet all state graduation requirements Curriculum is designed to provide a broad liberal arts experience for the college bound student Proficient in language, mathematics, and the experimental sciences In-depth exploration of the study of human behavior and the process of educational inquiry Theory of Knowledge course, Creativity, Action, Service component, and an Extended Essay

HOW TO EARN TECH PREP CREDIT Meet with the Career and Technology Advisor Select a Tech Prep program at your high school Register as a Tech Prep student, in the fall, in your class Make a “B” or better Enroll in a Tech Prep program at CC after high school graduation Apply for your Tech Prep credits at the Registrar’s office Complete 6 credits at CC or another community college Your credits will appear on your college transcript

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Texas resident Entering undergraduate (a student who is enrolled in the first 30 semester credit hours, excluding hours taken during concurrent enrollment in high school or courses for which the student received credit through examination) Financial need and an EFC-(expected family contribution) of no more than $4,000
  18. MORE ELIGIBILITY Completed the recommended or higher high school graduation program Enrolled in an eligible Texas college or university within 16 months of high school graduation Completed and submitted the FAFSA Not convicted of a felony or crime involving a controlled substance
