  2. Overall objectives • Bring together all European regions active in the design of innovation policies • Introduce innovation strategies in candidate countries • Mainstream innovation policy in the regions

IRE Network Secretariat Bring together all European regions active in the design of innovation policies Objectives: • Animation and co-ordination of the IRE network • Facilitate the exchange of experience • Disseminate good practice • Act as a European helpdesk for regional innovation policy • Co-ordinate thematic networks’ activities “The best way to get a good idea is to get a lot of ideas” Linus PAULING

Regional Innovation Strategiesin candidate countries Introduce innovation strategies in candidate countries new generation of RIS-NAC • to develop regional innovation systems using the experience gained through RIS projects in the regions not having benefited from FP V funding Follow up measures • Methodological / expertise support to post-RIS phase on specific actions which have been introduced into their RIS-NAC action plans • Expertise from RIS regions which have successfully implemented such an innovation-related measure “To put your ideas into action is the most difficult thing in the world” GOETHE

Innovating Regions in Europe are engaging towards • A more systematic approach to policy-making in all European regions • A stronger regional environment conducive to innovation • A regular exchange of experience and dissemination of good practices • A ground for new ideas and concepts to improve regional innovation strategies • An analysis and benchmark of regional innovation performances • Focussed trans-regional co-operation • Prepare accession candidates • Greater regional and economic cohesion

Objectives • to assist potential and current contractors taking part in Community funded research and development projects with IPR issues and in particular on its main areas of competence (i.e. Community diffusion and protection rules and issues related to intellectual property in international research projects)

  14. Assistance Information Dissemination Training Tools and instruments website help line newsletters and other information and dissemination material awareness raising training seminars Core activities Tackling IPR issues specific to Community funded transnational research projects (eg. licensing, technology transfer, consortium agreements, etc….).

  15. Beneficiaries Current and potential participants in the Framework Programme In particular : • SMEs • research centres • academia • individual researchers

  16. Target groups • legal entities with multilingual and transnational competence to deliver comprehensive information, first line assistance and training on IPR issues The competence required includes • legal • multimedia • information and communication expertise
