  2. STONEHAVEN COMMUNITY FLOOD ACTION GROUP WHO WE ARE A group of concerned residents who have been flooded or have been affected by flooding We aim to work in partnership with the various agencies concerned, we should be critical partners who may have to challenge the work they are doing

STONEHAVEN COMMUNITY FLOOD ACTION GROUP • AIMS & OBJECTIVES • To campaign for improved flood prevention measures for both coastal & river flooding • To create & maintain adequate flood warning systems in both the short & long term • To engage with Aberdeenshire council & other agencies to ensure urgent action is taken to prevent flooding in Stonehaven again

  4. STONEHAVEN COMMUNITY FLOOD ACTION GROUP • AIMS & OBJECTIVES 2 • To set realistic deadlines for remedial activity & monitor its progress to meet those deadlines • Ensure that all information received regarding the flood alleviation work is regularly communicated to the community

  5. STONEHAVEN COMMUNITY FLOOD ACTION GROUP • COMMUNITY RESILIENCE • The community must be at the heart of flood awareness & planning • “What works is when communities are empowered to control their own destiny and shape their future”

  6. STONEHAVEN COMMUNITY FLOOD ACTION GROUP • COMMUNITY RESILIENCE • To implement a community resilience plan. We have the local knowledge & are the ones “on the ground” • Ensure all flood wardens have adequate training & leadership • Work alongside the Scottish flood forum & other agencies to help us achieve this

STONEHAVEN COMMUNITY FLOOD ACTION GROUP • THE IDEAL SITUATION • Long term: permanent effective flood defences in place • Short term: a community with well rehearsed flood resilience plans • Appropriate building flood protection • Insurance cover available for all • For a system to be put in place to prevent flood water gathering in lower Stonehaven
