JuMakBeProject Overview Duration: 15th/Jan/2016 to 31/Dec/2019 (Extension to 2020) Comprises of: • University of Bergen (Agreement partner) • Makerere University (Participant Partner 1) • University of Juba (Participant Partner 2) Total funding: 8,500,000 NOK (1,018,564 USD)

EnPe II Scholarships Masters • 3 Cohorts:2016/17, 2017/18 and 2018/19 (Each lasts 2 years) • Enrollment: All admitted at Mak • A total of 10 MSc scholarships are available per cohort: 3 for UOJ and 7 for Mak. • At least 3 MSc students must be female • 3 out of the 7 MScs scholarships from Makare for female students.
EnPe II Scholarships MSc: Support given • The 3 MSc student per cohort from UOJ: Tuition, functional fees and stipend. • The 3 Female students Ugandans/Mak: Tuitionand functional fees. • All the 10 MSc students are eligible for research funds in their second year.
EnPe II Scholarships, PhD • 3 PhD Scholarships: 2 MaKand 1 for Juba • 2 PhD candidates from Mak and 1 PhD from UOJ: Tution, functional fees,stipend and research funds. Other general facilitation/support offered to Masters, PhD students and Staff • Facilitation for presentations at conferences and publications of research findings • Facilitation of Gender mainstreaming • Facillitation of Annual meetings and Progress reports to the EnPe Secretariat.
Academic Programmes • MSc Petroleum Geosciences: • Developed during EnPe I in 2009 • Several research Activities during EnPe I and EnPe II (titles? • Several research facilities have been acquired or repaired during EnPe II • Renovated three labs (2 geophysics, 1 geochemistry) • We have not reviewed/revised any academic programs under this project

Impacts of lessons learnt on the programmes …? • Lessons: Improvement of the MSc petroleum Geoscience program by working with the oil industry (Total TPA, Sunmaker, ICON). • Short trainings, seminars, internships, competitions, field courses • Access support from Government including library, datasets, labs, field courses • Option for MSc (Geology) programme to conduct petroleum-related MSc research dissertation • Other programs (MSc Geology) have also been improved by including petroleum related courses
