Scouts Run the Troop • Troop 69 is a “Boy Run” Troop • Leadership positions elected by the Scouts • The leadership makes up the Primary Leadership Council (PLC) for the Troop • Decision making body for the Troop • Planning for events done by the PLC • Camp Out events, dates • Weekly meeting organization • Events held during the meetings • New elections for Leadership every 6 months Troop 69 Parent Volunteer Opportunities

Adults Make the Troop Work • Adult participation makes the “Boy Run” Troop a reality • Coordinate activities based on direction from PLC • Gather resources to make events happen • Camp Outs • Training • Other events • Coordinate with Council • Permits • Transportation • Other • Coordinate with other Troops • Activities with other Troops • Camp outs • Camporees, etc Troop 69 Parent Volunteer Opportunities

Adults Make the Troop Work • To thrive the Troop needs many Active Adults • Time allotted is not substantial • Many hands make light work • With many adult volunteers jobs are easily managed! • Best to have 3-6 Adults assisting with every area • Reduces work-load on any 1 or 2 Adults • Events happen more easily • No one feels they “must” participate at every event • More fun is had by all Participants • Adults • Scouts Troop 69 Parent Volunteer Opportunities

What Skills Can I Offer? • Scouting is made up by diverse skills • These skills contribute to a very well-rounded program offering • Each person can volunteer his or her strengths • Can offer skills to various areas throughout the Scout’s participation • As Scout grows, different areas may interest the Adult • Each person can grow as well with new skills • Try new volunteer opportunities every few months • Changing roles helps give different view of the Troop • Keeps challenges new and exciting Troop 69 Parent Volunteer Opportunities

Priority Needs at Troop 69 • There are 7 areas where Troop 69 Needs your help! • Older Scout Program • Keeping Older Scouts (Star and above) active • 1st Year Program • Training our youngest member on Scouting Basics • Indoor Program • Coordinating Indoor events and training • Outdoor Program • Coordinating Outdoor events and training • Troop Logistics • Keeping the wheels in motion • Board of Review Member • Review Scout’s Progress for Advancement • Troop Committee Member • Manage the Troop Troop 69 Parent Volunteer Opportunities

Functions Assist in keeping Older Scouts active through events Merit Badge plans for Older Scouts Help Scouts track what they need for Eagle Training Group or Individual Event coordination duties Plan with Scouts / SM Transportation Council Permits Skills Coordinate Older Scouts Merit Badge / Event requirements with Troop Merit Badge Course preparation Coordination & Organization for events, Merit Badge courses Tracking / Evaluation of Scouts’ progress Older Scout Program Coordinator • Training Required • Courses required for Trained Assistant Scoutmaster • Approved Merit Badge counselor Troop 69 Parent Volunteer Opportunities
