Object Selection • Selection follows the recommendations of the Top Group: https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/viewauth/AtlasProtected/TopCommonObjects2011 • MET: Using TopMETTool and MissingETUtility packages, the MET is determined by modifying the METRefFinal_em_tightpp variables by accounting for the electrons, jets (20GeV < pT <1000000GeV), softjets (20GeV < pT < 7GeV), muons and the cellout (energy not associated to the other objects) specific to the Top Object selection.
Object Selection 2 • Electrons: • tightpp electrons (determined via cuts by the Egamma Group, providing ~78% efficiency) • author = 1 or 3 (1: calo-based algorithm, 2: track-based algorithm, 3:both) • el_0Q&1446 == 0 (object quality flag to avoid dead optical transmitters (OTxs)) • isolated (Eiso90Etcone20 and Eiso90Ptcone30 == 0) • |eta| < 2.47 except 1.37 < |eta| < 1.52 (overlap region) • ET > 25GeV • not within dR of 0.4 after electron-jet overlap removal (electron SFs not valid) • Taus: • seedCalo_numTrack = 1 or 3 • author = 1 or 3 (using only taus reconstructed using calo-seeded or track and calo-seeded reconstruction) • pT > 20GeV • |eta| < 2.3 • BDTEleScore > 0.5 • muonVeto != 1 • JetBDTSigTight == 1 • no trigger matching currently applied
Object Selection 3 • Muons: • tight muons (guarantees we are using MuidMuonCollectionmuons which includes muons reconstructed using Muid Combined, MuGirl, MuTagIMO and Moore and Muid Standalone. The tight selection requires that the muon is constructed using MuidCombined, Muid Standalone and MuGirl with specific cut requirements on the last two) • pT > 20GeV • |eta| < 2.5 • etcone30 and ptcone30 both < 4GeV • athor = 12 (selects only Muidmuons within tight category) • expectBLayerHit and nBLHits != 0 • nPixHits + nPixelDeadSensors > 1 • nSCTHits + nSCTDeadSensors >= 6 • nPixHoles + nSCTHoles < 3 • for n = (nTRTHits + nTRTOutliers) • if |eta| < 1.9: n > 5 and nTRTOutliers/n < 0.9 • if |eta| >= 1.9: if n > 5 then nTRTOutliers/n < 0.9 • must not be within dR < 0.4 of jets with pT > 20GeV • Jets: • E > 0 • pT > 20GeV • jetvf > 0.75
