  1. Parents Meeting Monday, 3rd October

  2. Curriculum • In Senior Infants there are currently eleven curricular areas; • English • Maths • Gaeilge • SESE – History / Geography / Science • SPHE   • PE • Visual Art • Music • Drama

  3. 3 days a week • Integrated teaching time • Learning through play • Oral Language • Please get involved - Keep eye on website for list of resources needed (to be posted soon)

  4. Reading and Phonological Awareness • Sounds and Blending • Rhyming • Word Families  • CVC Words • Tricky Words • Word Boxes • PM Readers • Co -Teaching

  5. Maths and RSGM • Number • Sorting and Classifying • Shape and Space • Measure • Time • Money • Algebra • Data • RSGM • Co- Teaching • Hands-on active learning • Not book led

  6. PE • PE: Please ensure your child wears the school tracksuit and runners on PE days. An extra drink can be sent to school on PE day(s). • Ms McKenna: PE is Tuesday and Friday • Ms Kelly: PE is Wednesday and Thursday • Ms Tracey: PE is Thursday

  7. Homework • Oral Work: Sounds, Tricky words, word boxes • Reading: Tricky words, word boxes and PM Readers • Writing: ‘Just Handwriting’, ‘Onwards and Upwards’, ‘Planet Maths’ • Class Dojo/School Website: Talk/Discussion about your child’s learning

Lunch policy • We promote a healthy eating policy in our school. • The following are not allowed: Sugary foods eg biscuits, cakes, crisps, chocolate (anything covered in chocolate or chocolate spread), sweets, cereal bars fizzy drinks, chewing gum, jam, Yogurts, frubes, and other yogurt drinks High fat content e.g burgers, chips, pizza, chicken nuggets • Allergies – No nuts or popcorn • An example of a healthy lunch: sandwiches, fruit, rice/pasta dishes, water, milk, salad, tomatoes, vegetable sticks and raisins, crackers • All lunch rubbish must be taken home as part of the school’s Green activities and to cut down on the need for waste disposal by the school.

  9. Coming to school • Be on time each morning : Your child will be issued with a late card if they arrive late. • Collect your child on time • Child’s Independence: It’s important for the children to take off and hang up their own coats. Please make sure your child has a coat they can open and close by themselves, and has shoes they can open and close by themselves. • Playground Toys: 1 pocket sized only

  10. Class Dojo • Class Dojo:Class Story and Dojo points. These are used as a way for parents to see how their child is performing in school and the things they have been learning about in school. Private Messaging – Used to communicate absences, messages to teacher regards homework • Not to be used to express dissatisfaction or more serious grievances. These can be communicated through arranging a meeting with class teacher.
