  2. Patrick Blanc, botanikus Párizsban született 1953 június 3.-án. A Francia Nemzeti Tudományos Kutató Központban a szubtrópusi erdőkre specializálódott és ő találta fel a függőleges kertek koncepcióját és dolgozta ki a technikáját. Az első zöld fal Párizsban készült 1997-ben. Híres függőleges kertjei megtalálhatók többek között Genovában, Madridban, Bordeaux-ban, Újdelhiben, Gdanskban, Avignonban, Berlinben, Melbourne-ben, Bangkokban.
