Integrating climate change vulnerability and adaptation into international waters projects Despite the lack of a large window of opportunity for Europe/CIS countries to address adaptation, UNEP is assisting these countries to integrate climate change vulnerability and adaptation into other focal areas
Integrating climate change vulnerability and adaptation into international waters projects ●Strategic Partnership for the Mediterranean Sea Large Marine Ecosystem – Regional Component: Implementation of agreed actions for the protection of the environmental resources of the Mediterranean Sea and its coastal areas(Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, Algeria. The Partnership serves as a catalyst in leveraging policy/legal/ institutional reforms as well as additional investments for reversing degradation of the Mediterranean Sea Basin, with its coastal habitats and marine living resources.
Integrating climate change vulnerability and adaptation into international waters projects ●Integration of climatic variability and change into national strategies to implement the ICZM Protocol in the Mediterranean, Albania, Algeria, Croatia, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Montenegro, and Tunisia. The Palestinian Authority also participates. Components: • Development of regional climate variability monitoring programme underway • Strengthened knowledge base • Strengthened partnerships, capacity and exchange support the implementation of the ICZM protocol and dissemination of project experiences and lessons
