Length of meteorological messages • Maximum length: 15000 octets except for coded digital facsimile products • Sets of information, transmitted using segmentation into a series of bulletins, shall not exceed 250000 octets • Sets of information may be exchanged using the file transfer technique, particularly where sets larger than 250000 octets are concerned Training Seminar on ICT for GTS (Bangkok, 23 - 27 September 2002) - Slide 14
Telecommunication centres • Maximum delay for relay of a message: 15 seconds, three minutes if a conversion is required • Minimum storage capacity: 24 hours • Duplicated messages received within at least three hours of the original messages should be detected and eliminated • Regular review of the content of the switching directories Training Seminar on ICT for GTS (Bangkok, 23 - 27 September 2002) - Slide 15
Routeing catalogues • The routeing catalogues of the GTS centres provide information on the routeing of bulletins on the GTS, i.e. on the relay of the bulletins on the GTS point-to-point circuits and their distribution on the point-to-multipoint circuits such as the satellite distribution systems.The routeing catalogues or the information needed for their access is available in: • http://www.wmo.ch/web/www/ois/routeing-catalogue/routeing-home.htm Training Seminar on ICT for GTS (Bangkok, 23 - 27 September 2002) - Slide 16
Catalogue of meteorological bulletins • Contains a list of compiling or editing centres of the Global Telecommunication System and a list of meteorological bulletins being transmitted for global, inter-regional and regional exchanges. Each bulletin is uniquely identified by the abbreviated heading (TTAAii CCCC). • Is maintained by the MTN centres (and the Secretariat), who should receive the updates from their associated NMCs Training Seminar on ICT for GTS (Bangkok, 23 - 27 September 2002) - Slide 17
