In this novel, Nate Brodie from Massachusetts gets the chance to go to the New England Patriots football stadium and throw a ball through the goal post for 1 million dollars at halftime. Attribute: Setting makes this book a realistic fiction novel. Title: Million-Dollar Throw What is your book’s genre? Write it here: Realistic Fiction Attribute: Nate Brodie’s friends always called him Brady, because Nate has a great arm just like Tom Brady; the quarterback for the New England Patriots Attribute: Getting the chance to throw a ball through a goal post is believable because in college football they pick people to do this for college funds and tuition. Attribute: Setting makes this book a realistic fiction novel. “With the kind of arm Nate Brodie had-his buds and teammates always called him “Brady,” knowing that Tom Brady was Nate’s all-time favorite player” (2). “They all gathered around the TV as James Brown on SportsCenter called the winning numbers and every single one of the numbers were on Nate’s ticket. They all jumped and screamed after the miracle happened” (45). “Nate knew all about the disease Abby had; retinitis pigmentosa. A disease that was slowly affecting Abby’s eyesight and there was no cure” (100).

Attribute: Because the main character is trying to throw a football through a real NFL team’s goal post this is realistic fiction. “I’m so nervous about going to Gillette Stadium and getting the chance to win a million dollars” (45). “Maybe it would be better for us. And you want to know something, I actually think that a million dollars would help the relationship of this family” (123). “Being out on that field in front of so many fans cheering you on. The feeling is indescribable. When I got ready to throw that ball the roars of the Patriots fans overpowered every other sound and I felt alone” (189).

  6. Attribute: This novel is realistic fiction, because the characters are believable and the setting is real. “Living in Boston, Massachusetts was the best. I had my favorite team their; The New England Patriots. Arguably the best team in the NFL” (12). “I knew all about the disease she had; retinitis pigmentosa. A terrible disease that unfortunately was incurable. It was slowly getting worse and she was losing her vision” (39). “When I heard my name on SportsCenter about me getting the chance to go to Gillette Stadium and throw the football through the goal post, the feeling was hard to describe” (78)!
