Excellent!By SharkieFive stars, hands down for this book. I read the entire thing in about three days and that's only because I had to work in between, but I'm happy it was on my kindle, in my excitement I might have torn some of the pages out while flipping pages. Yes, it does get a bit slow, but all the scenes are very important and they all build up to the amazing climax of the story.SPOILER ALERT!YES! Tristan is

  2. back! In someone else's body. I think I punched myself in the face a few times with my "fist pumps gone wrong". Ultimately the release of this book being so recent has given me time to (THANKFULLY) start all over again at number one. Because it's been about two or three years since I bought the book (in print) at a Barnes And Nobles and had my mind blown to bits by Elizabeth Chandler's writing. The only bad thing about not knowing the release date of the 4th book in this series, is I'm going to finish this book again and then freak out thinking the next book's release is right around the corner. No matter what I say, I can't convince someone to read it, but chances are if you made it to this part, you've been interested in something I've had to say about this book. So, if you haven't read the book yet, I suggest you stop reading this review right now and get your mouse icon over the buy button and click it repeatedly until the book is in your possession. Another thing I love about this series, it's finally a romantic book I can share with others without being embarrassed because of someone opening it to a raunchy sex scene. My grandmother even enjoys reading this. But another warning, keep the tissues near by.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Its more like used. The cover is faded there are fingerprints on the side and when I wanted to contact them about this, I couldn't. There is no contact list on this.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Poor Will!By Ivy BewleyI wasn't sure why this sequel was written. The original Kissed by an Angel trilogy wrapped up so perfectly, not to mention happily. Now, browsing on , I see it was actually written in the mid- 90's and recently reprinted, so the sequel was probably the author capitalizing on the current huge trend of young adult paranormal romance. Well, I adored Kissed by an Angel and had therefore planned to read other Elizabeth Chandler books. That would have been fine. She could have left this series alone!I did like this book. In fact, I was up all night reading it and finished it in two nights. Ms. Chandler is a pretty good author, with her writing style, ability to build suspense, and creating interesting, (mostly) likeable characters. What I hated was that this sequel ruined the perfect ending we were left with from the original trilogy. Yes, Tristan died, but Ivy was moving on. Will was a great guy. You really couldn't find a better boyfriend. These bad things happen in life, and everyone was making the best of it.(I was originally attracted to Kissed by an Angel in the store because of the simple, yet beautiful artwork on the cover. When I turned it around and saw how fascinating it sounded, plus it was about someone with my name, I just had to have it. And I loved it. I was just so disappointed that in this sequel Ivy was not nearly as likeable.)So as Evercrossed starts, it's a year since Tristan died. I can understand Ivy being sad, but I can't really understand it ruining her life, especially so far as she treats her friends badly. This is my problem with pretty much all young adult novels out there today: I just do not buy that you can be so hopelessly, desperately in love with someone when you are only 17. Especially when you have been together a month! (I don't recall how long Ivy and Tristan were together, but that is usually about right.) So anyway, Ivy has a vision of Tristan, and all of a sudden, she is out of love with Will, who she has been in a real relationship with for a whole year. Or rather, she realizes she can never love him the way she loved Tristan... however she wants to rationalize it. So Ivy starts spending all her time with someone who reminds her of Tristan, while neglecting her friends. While this book was somewhat predictable, it also had a twist in the end I was not expecting. It also left me with some questions, however. How did the villain cause the car crash? The villain didn't seem to be in a convenient location to do such a thing. Was it just a lucky coincidence the villain decided to take advantage of? Will we find these things out later, or does no one care? The ending was just HORRIBLE! I was wondering how it was going to wrap up in just a few pages, when I turn a page... and it's over! All the pages left were a preview of the next sequel! I was so mad! Especially since the paperback won't be out for another year. Doesn't the author know that even when you have sequels, each story is supposed to be complete??One random gripe: how come this book is an inch taller than Kissed by an Angel? They're supposed to match when I put them next to each other on my shelf. Now in paperback, the first book in a new arc of the New York Times bestselling Kissed by an Angel series! Its been a year since Ivys boyfriend, Tristan, died. Theyve both moved onTristan to the other side of the afterlife, and Ivy to sweet, dependable Will. Now Ivys heading to Cape Cod, hoping to leave the horror of last summer behind. She wants nothing more than to lie on the beach, sip lemonade, and hang out with her friends. But then a car crash ends Ivys life. As she floats to the beyond, looking down on the life shes left behind, Tristan breathes life back into her with a passionate kiss. She wakes up in the hospital, surrounded by Will and her family, but all she can think about is the love that she lost. But memories arent all thats come back from the past. And this time, Ivys not sure love will be enough to save her.The Kissed by an Angel bind-up has nearly half a million copies in print! "A pleasant beach read." - "KIRKUS""This sequel to Kissed by an Angel is told in short, suspense-filled chapters and will be popular with teens of all ages who are devoted to the ever-popular supernatural romance genre. Readers will cringe as Ivy falls deeply in love with a guy she knows nothing about, even though there are plenty of danger signs that she fails to take seriously. A cliffhanger ending alerts readers that the series is not yet complete and Ivy and her friends' lives are still in definite jeopardy."--VOYA About the AuthorElizabeth Chandler is a pseudonym for Mary Claire Helldorfer. The old-fashioned yard swing on which they sat creaked to a halt. Listen, Dhanya said again. Its moaning. Get a grip, Dhanya, Kelsey replied. She was sprawled on a white Adirondack chair between the swing and the cottage doorstep, where Dhanya sat. Havent you ever heard a foghorn? Of course I have. But tonight it sounds so sad, like its Moaning . . . mourning . . . soughing . . . sighing, wailing, waiting for her lover who will never return from the sea, Beth said, then reached in her pocket and pulled out a small notepad and pen to scribble down the foghorns contribution to her next romantic epic. Kelsey threw back her head and hooted. You havent changed, Beth. Even carrying around that old clicking pen. Why dont you type on your iPhone? Here? Beth replied. Where famous writers have scribbled on paper by the light of hurricane lamps burning whale oil, as rain mercilessly lashed their shingled shacks, and not far from their door the wild surf All right, all right, Kelsey said, waving an impatient leg at her cousin. I get it. Ivy laughed. Beth glanced sideways and laughed with her. Since their arrival on Cape Cod four days ago, it seemed to Ivy that Beth and Will, Ivys boyfriend, were continually checking to see how she responded to things. Ivy suspected that she wasnt the only one thinking about Tristans anniversary at the end of June. Ivy had loved Tristan more than anyone or anything in the world. Her joy with him was like nothing she had ever experienced. His love for her felt like a miracle. But June 25 marked one year from the start of last summers nightmare, one year from the night that Ivys stepbrother, Gregory, had tried to murder her and killed Tristan instead. Fog is so creepy, Dhanya went on, the way it slowly invades a place, the way it hides things. It had been foggy the autumn afternoon that Gregory had died, plunging to his death from a railroad bridge. At the end, his desire to destroy Ivy had been so intense, hed overlooked his own danger. Now a menacing rumble caused Beth to glance over her shoulder. Was that thunder? Kelsey sighed. I wish it would storm and get it over with. Wheres Will? Beth asked Ivy, sounding worried. Painting, she replied, glancing in the direction of the barn, where Will was staying. The renovated barnpart of Seabright Innwas only fifty yards from the girls cottage. Tonight, with Will as its only occupant and his window facing away from the cottage, the building appeared dark. Across the garden, the lit windows of the main house were yellow smudges in the fog. I hate this weather, Kelsey said, pulling on her long auburn hair as if she could straighten it. She tossed it behind her shoulders. Im getting a bad case of frizz. So are you, Ivy. Ivy smiled and shrugged. Her hair was always a yellow tangle. I cant believe Aunt Cindy didnt put cable in the cottage, Kelsey continued her complaint. Im not going to watch TV in the common room with her hooked rugs and old china and flowers! She cant blame me if I go into Chatham and party. Its almost midnight, and you wont be able to see the road in front of your Jeepnot in this fog, Dhanya told her best friend. Will has cable in the barn, she added. If hes painting, we should leave him alone, said Beth. Pink flashes of lightning lit the western sky. The thunder sounded louder, closer. Kelsey grimaced. This kind of night isnt good for anything but a sports bar or a sance. A sance, thats a great idea! Dhanya replied. Ill get out my Ouija board. Ivy felt Beth shift uncomfortably in the swing. Think Ill pass, Beth told them. Me, too, Ivy said, seeing her friends uneasiness. She guessed that for Kelsey and Dhanya, communicating with spirits was a party game, but it wasnt for Beth, who was psychic and last year had often sensed the danger Ivy was in. Pass? Why? Kelsey challenged them. Are sances too middle school for you Connecticut girls? No. Too real, Beth replied. Kelsey raised an eyebrow but didnt say anything. Dhanya rose to her feet. She was pretty and petite, with long, silky hair and exotic eyes that were nearly black. Im good at sances and other psychic kinds of stuff. People at school are always asking me to do Tarot readings. Yeah, Kelsey said, swinging her long, athletic legs down from the arm of the lawn chair. Dhanya was the star of my sleepovers. Kelsey walked over to the swing and pulled Ivy to her feet. Come on. You, too, Beth. Dont be a party pooper, she told her cousin. When Kelsey and Dhanya had entered the cottage, Ivy turned to Beth. Itll be okay, she said quietly. I havent told them about last summer, about Tristan or Gregoryor anything else. Ivy nodded. She could imagine Kelseys astonishment if they told her that Tristan had come back as an angel to protect her from Gregory and that Beth had been the first to communicate with him. Ivy and Beth would never hear the end of it. Theyre just fooling around. It doesnt bother you? Beth searched Ivys face, her forehead creased with concern. When they first met, two winters earlier, Ivy had thought Beth looked like a sweet- faced owl. Beths face was thinner now, and her layers of feathery light brown hair had grown out and been styled in a sleek chin-length cut, but her blue eyes were still as large and round as an owls, especially when she worried. Several months back, Ivy had seen through her friends sales pitch for spending the summer on Cape Cod. Beth and Kelseys aunt, recently divorced, ran her inn on a tight budget. In exchange for their work, Aunt Cindy, as they all were asked to call her, offered them a modest salary and a place to live just minutes from the ocean, a bay, salt marshes, bike trails . . . According to Beth, it was the perfect way to spend their last summer together before college. But it was a summer away from Connecticut that Beth had most wanted for Ivy, Will, and herselfIvy knew that. Her best friend was determined to get them away from the dark memories of last summer. Are you coming or not? Kelsey called back to them. The more we say no, the more theyll insist, Ivy whispered to Beth. Just play along. Coming, Beth replied to her cousin. They entered the shingled cottage, which had two rooms on the first floor, a living room and, directly behind it, a kitchen with a large hearth, where Kelsey was waiting for them. Ivy and Beth cleared the kitchen table, while Dhanya retrieved the Ouija board from under her bed upstairs. Kelsey searched the cupboards and drawers for candles. Aha! She held up a package of six dark red tea lights that smelled like cranberry. We should use white candles, Beth

  4. advised. White attracts good spirits. Ill get some from the inn. No, these will do, Kelsey said stubbornly. Dhanya set the board and planchette on the table. Sit down, Kelsey commanded, while she arranged the candles in a circle around the board. Ivy gazed across the table at Beth and smiled, hoping to ease the tension she saw in her friends rigid shoulders. Beth shook her head, then frowned at the board between them. The three rows of the alphabet, the row of numbers, and at the bottom, the words GOOD BYE were turned so that Dhanya could most easily read them. The word YES was blazoned on the corner close to Ivy, NO on the corner by Beth. Try not to set yourselves on fire, girls, Kelsey said, closing the cottages back door to cut the draft. She lit the votives, then extinguished the lights in the living room and kitchen, and sat down across from Dhanya. So who are we calling back? she asked. Who died recentlysomeone famous, someone wickedany good ideas? How about that girl from Providence who was murdered a few months back? Dhanya suggested. Which girl? Kelsey asked. You rememberthe one strangled by her old boyfriend. Caitlin? Karen? Corinne, I think. Kelsey nodded her approval of the suggestion. Love, jealousy, and murderyou cant beat that. You should know the person you are contacting, Beth advised. You should be certain of the name and, most important, be sure that your contact is a benevolent spirit. Kelsey rolled her eyes. Everyones an expert. Beth pressed on: With a Ouija board, youre doing more than just chatting with a spirit; youre opening a portal for that spirit to enter our world. Dhanya flicked away the idea with a toss of her hand. In my experience, you are more successful when you open communication with whatever spirit is available and willing. Please join hands, she instructed, left on top of right. Beth reluctantly followed instructions, then Dhanya rolled back her head and ch...
