  2. The Dodo bird The Dodo was a flightless birdUnique to the Mascarene island of Mauritius (East of Madagascar) Dodo’s became extinct in 1681 because other animals were introduced to the island

Dinosaurs • The reason the dinosaurs became extinct has stumped scientists ever since dinosaur fossils were first discovered. • There are many theories for why the dinosaurs died out, such as: • The Asteroid Theory • Volcanic activity • Disease • Not being able to adapt to the changing climate.

  5. Pandas • Pandas weigh between 200 and 300 pounds and have a black and white coat • Their diet is made up of 99% bamboo, although pandas in the wild will occasionally eat other grassesor even meat in the form of birds, rodents or carrion

  6. Pandas There are less than 1600 giant pandas left worldwide, putting them on the endangered species list. There are a few reasons why pandas are endangered, such as: • Habitat loss • Poaching • Habitat fragmentation • Low birth-rate
