What is NBPTS? NBPTS - is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization created in 1987 in response to “A Nation At Risk” and “A Nation Prepared” • Its mission is to: • Maintain and update professional standards for accomplished teaching • Integrate National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) into education reform efforts • Advance school improvement

Targeted High Need Initiative Supports teachers pursuing National Board Certification in underserved schools. Take One! Offers a component of National Board Certification to individual educators or an entire faculty to build learning communities. National Board Certification 74,000 National Board Certified Teachers. Standards- and evidence-based assessment program to develop, recognize and retain the nation’s most accomplished teachers and improve teacher effectiveness.
