EGEE JRA1 Massimo Sgaravatto INFN Padova
Objectives of the activity • Provide robust, supportable middleware components, which must be use in a production Grid • Select, re-engineer, in case implement, and integrate identified Grid Services • Multiple platforms • Evolve towards new standards currently being defined • Services Oriented Architecture • OGSI standards now sort of obsolete given the WSRF announcement on January 20, 2004. • Based on requirements of • The applications (Bio & HEP) • The operations • E.g. deployment, updates, packaging, etc..
Partners Issue: American involvement still being clarified
Organization • Implementation clusters • Responsible for the re-engineering/development of the middleware • Clusters: • IT-CZ cluster (INFN, Datamat, CESNET) • Workload management, resource access, grid accounting • UK cluster • Information Services • Cern cluster • Data management • Northern Europe cluster • Security (JRA3) • Integration and Testing group • Integration and testing of the software generated by the Implementation group • Delivery of software to Operations • Based at Cern
Management • Engineering Management Team (EMT) responsible for managing the middleware engineering process • Composed by: • JRA1 leader (F. Hemmer, Cern) • Chief architect (?) • Manager of the implementation group (E. Laure, Cern) • Leaders of the implementation clusters • F.Prelz (IT-CZ) • S. Fisher (UK) • P. Kunszt (Cern) • F. Hedman (NEC) • Manager of integration and testing group (M. Barroso Lopez, Cern) • Quality person
