  1. 2019 Project

  2. Helping the victims of slavery and human trafficking • From 5-19 December 2019, 20 Rotarians from around the world, including 11 from New Zealand, will travel to Seam Reap in Cambodia to raise funds for HAGAR’s work in Cambodia rescuing women and children who have been the victims of slavery and human trafficking • Every 27 seconds, somewhere in theworld, another child disappears into slavery • Then we will travel to Mae Suai in Northern Thailand to provide hands-on help at the Rescue Mission for Children

  3. The last time we sent a team was 2016

  4. New Roof for Laundry Drying Area We need to clean up the steel framework, re-roof and paint, so the children have somewhere to dry their washing. The budget is $6,000.

  5. 2016 visit Older girls’ bathroom Before Bathroom Refurbishment Young Girls Dormitory If the tub looks familiar, it’s because we use these in NZ paddocks to water cattle. Here, the girls used to bathe in them.

  6. After

  7. Before In 2019, we’d like to renovate the younger girls’ bathroom. We’re looking for a budget of $3,000.

  8. After

  9. 2016 In 2016 we planted a guava orchard

  10. 2016

  11. 2019 It’s going pretty well but now we need to install an irrigation system, at a cost of $11,000. The orchard will feed the children and any surplus will provide them with income. Irrigation System for Guava Orchard

  12. This was last year’s Christmas celebration, which is a big deal for these mostly-stateless kids. There are 55 of them. For $200, we can give them a Christmas feast. It would be nice if we could also give them a Christmas present.

  13. 2019 mission tasks We’re paying our own way to Mae Suai and providing unskilled labour for free, but we need some help with materials and skilled local labour. OPPORTUNITIES TO HELP Sponsor the reroofing of the laundry drying area $6,000 Sponsor the renovation of the younger girls’ bathroom $3,000 Sponsor the Guava irrigation system $11,000 Sponsor the Christmas Party and Gifts for 55 children $1,575 Contribute any amount towards these projects If we get more support, we will help the local school that these children go to, to buy books and materials, because education is the path out of poverty and statelessness.
