  1. What is CRO? • Allows users to compare graduation rates among peer group institutions. • Provides detailed information about institution finances, demographics, and other characteristics. • Provides graduation rates disaggregated by race, graduation rates over time, and first-year retention rates.

  2. CRO Peer Group Methodology CRO takes the following factors into account when creating peer groups. As a result, the differences in graduation rates among peer institutions can be attributed, in part, to what institutions do (or don’t do) to help their students succeed. • Estimated median freshman SAT or ACT equivalent • Admissions selectivity in Barron’s Profiles • Carnegie classification   • Sector (public or private)   • Number of FTE undergraduates • Student-related expenditures per FTE student • Percentage of undergraduates receiving Pell grants   • Percentage of FTE undergraduates 25 and older • Percentage of undergraduates enrolled part-time • Status as HBCU • Status as a commuter campus

  3. Uses for CRO • Identify institutions that have much higher graduation rates than peers. • Identify institutions that have improved their graduation rates significantly and steadily over time. • Examine gaps in graduation rates by race and gender within institutions, and identify institutions with small or decreasing gaps.
