Cell Wall and Smooth ER By Tommy Roback, Michael Pruzinsky, and Wade Tucker
What kind of cells have a cell wall? • Eukaryotic Plant cells have a cell wall.
Location on a Cell • The cell wall is located outside of the cell, and it is attached to the cell.
Function in the Cell • The cell wall protects the cell by keeping some harmful substances out of the cell, while allowing other substances to pass through. The cell wall also helps find food for the cell.
Role and Effect • If the cell wall was an organelle for a factory it would protect the factory, and make sure nothing harmful enters the factory.
What kind of cells have the smooth ER? • Almost all Eukaryotic cells have the smooth ER.
Location in a cell • The Smooth ER is floating in the Cytoplasm.
Function in a cell • The smooth ER controls metabolic processes such as synthesizing lipids, steroids, and phospholipids.
Role and Effect • If the Smooth ER was an organelle in a factory it would produce items that the company would then distribute and use.
