4. Overview • In the new release of TNKids, case managers will be required to indicate Yes or No on each CPS Investigation as to whether methamphetamine was a contributing condition in that investigation. • The same will apply to custodial episodes. For each new custody episode created, intake workers will be required to indicate Yes or No as to whether methamphetamine was a contributing condition to the child’s entry into DCS custody. • Reports will contain summary data on meth-related investigations and custody episodes by county, region, and statewide. 6. CPS Investigation Whether or not the substance (currently methamphetamine) was a contributing condition must be recorded for all CPS Investigations. Substance Abuse is a new tab in the CPS Investigation icon. Substance tracking for a CPS Investigation is not linked to a specific client or allegation but is applicable to the investigation. EXIT

7. CPS Investigation The case manager must answer this question using the drop down list (Yes or No). EXIT

8. CPS Investigation This value can be set or changed until all of the investigation’s allegations have been classified and approved. After the last allegation is approved, the value may no longer be edited. EXIT

9. CPS Investigation Before the last allegation in a CPS Investigation can be classified, if not previously done, the case manager must specify if the substance was or was not a contributing condition for the investigation. EXIT

10. Court Custody Intake During the Court Custody Intake process, the Add Required Intake Information screen now displays the current substance being tracked (methamphetamine) and asks “Is Methamphetamine a contributing condition for this Custody Episode?” The intake worker will respond using the drop down list (Yes or No). EXIT

11. Court Custody Intake The response can later be modified if necessary for up to 45 days from initial entry into TNKids. EXIT

12. Court Custody Intake The answer to the question is not related to the Custody Reason selection. Therefore, “Drug Abuse(Parent)” as a Custody Reason does not necessitate the substance contributing condition question to be answered “Yes”. EXIT

13. Court Custody Intake The correct choice of “Yes” or “No” must be selected from the drop down list. If the intake worker clicks OK before entering the information, the warning message shown here will appear. EXIT

14. Court Custody Case The answer to the contributing condition question is then available on the Court Custody Intake Icon, Episode Tab. The data can be modified for the first 45 days after initial TNKids entry. After that time, the information is non-editable. EXIT

15. Court Custody Case To change the value, simply choose the correct answer using the drop down list. EXIT

16. Court Custody Case Court Custody Cases entered prior to the 06 release will not be required to contain the response to the substance contributing condition question. The field is grayed out (unavailable) for these cases. EXIT

17. Reports TNKids will be able to report on CPS Investigations, with all of their allegations classified and approved, where methamphetamine was a contributing condition. This report can be run for a specific date range and by county, region or statewide. EXIT

18. Reports TNKids will be able to report on DCS clients who were taken into DCS custody where methamphetamine was a contributing condition. This report can be run for a specific date range and by county, region or statewide. EXIT

19. Summary There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching out and lifting people up. In the new release of TNKids, case managers will be required to indicate Yes or No on each CPS Investigation as to whether methamphetamine was a contributing condition in that investigation. The same will apply to custodial episodes. For each new custody episode created, intake workers will be required to indicate Yes or No as to whether methamphetamine was a contributing condition to the child’s entry into DCS custody.
