  2. Warm-up # 3 • Get out your facts on the North Carolina Drinking Laws that you did for homework. Come up to the board and write down one fact. • Write down the three facts that were most interesting to you and explain why! • Also discuss whether or not you think Alcohol is a gateway drug Gateway Drug: a drug which when used may lead to the use of more addictive substances

  3. DEBATE • Using the facts on the board and the essay you wrote for classwork/homework be prepared to debate the consequences to getting a DUI.

  4. “Gateway” • What are your views on this video? • Is it realistic? • What did you learn?

NOTES • Write down the following definitions on the back of the worksheet Bronchitis: an inflammation of the bronchi High: having a temporary false feeling of happiness after using alcohol or a drug Laced: added a small amount of a drug or alcohol to something Panic Attack: sudden overpowering feeling of fear or anxiety that prevents somebody from functioning Potency: the strength of something such as a drug or alcoholic beverage Resin: a semisolid substance that comes from the sap of some plants and trees. Tolerance: the natural or developed ability to resist the effects of the continued or increasing use of a drug.

  6. EFFECTS OF MARIJUANA • LONG-TERM • Psychotic symptoms • Lung damage • Worsen the symptoms of bronchitis • Depressed immune system • SHORT-TERM • Impaired Memory • Loss of coordination • Distortions in vision and hearing • Sleepiness • Red eyes • Increased appetite • Increased hear rate
