  2. Pre-course work for the BRC • ASK YOURSELF… • Why do I want to ride a motorcycle? • What kind of learner am I? • Visual, auditory, kinesthetic, tactile? • Where can I get a bicycle to practice my balance skills? • What is my physical condition?

  4. Pre-course work MUSCLE MEMORY WHEN DO WE LEARN TO WALK, TALK, RUN, TIE OUR SHOES? SO… WHEN DOES OUR MOST EFFECTIVE MUSCLE MEMORY LEARNING TAKE PLACE? WHAT WE CAN DO TO IMPROVE MUSCLE MEMORY FOR MOTORCYCLING…

MUSCLE MEMORY • Learn how to properly mount a motorcycle. • Learn Where the controls are located and … how they work. • On a static motorcycle, practice finding the primary controls with HEAD & EYES UP! • Don’t know of anyone who owns a motorcycle that will fit you? Cultivate a relationship with a good local dealer. • Ask your dealer for help with mounting & controls ONLYwhen the shop is NOT busy.

  6. Pre-Course Work with a Spotter! PROPERLY MOUNTING A MOTORCYCLE Like a horse, approach from the side. both. Squeeze . 4. over. 5. & . 7. up. 6. Adjust. left Grasp grips front brake Right leg Straighten sit Side stand mirrors

MORE Pre-Course Work On a friend’s or dealership’s static motorcycle, and with a spotter, find your primary controls:>Handle Bars: >Clutch: > Gear Shift: > Throttle: > Front Brake: > Rear Brake: Stand the motorcycle up. Turn your head, Eyes & handle-bars full right , then full left. Lever on LEFT handlebar. In front of the LEFT foot peg. Right Hand Grip: ROLLS ON/OFF. Lever on RIGHT Hand Grip. In front of the RIGHT foot peg. After you know where the controls are located, FIND THEM & WORK THEM WITHOUT LOOKING!

  8. More Pre-Course Work Hydrate: Start hydrating a week before your class. When your body is under physical stress it is easy to get dehydrated. REST: Get plenty of rest before your class and stay away from alcohol starting a few days prior to class. SUN BLOCK: Make sure you haveprotection from the sun!`

  9. BEFORE THE COURSE BEGINS, CLEAR YOUR MIND • Nothing else matters during this course. Give a 100% focus. Kids, job, friends will all survive without you. • This course must be “ALL ABOUT YOU!” • Cell Phone OFF! • YOUR LIFE MAY DEPEND ON WHAT YOU GET FROM THIS COURSE!

ON THE RANGE • Focus on YOUR learning, don’t worry about what others are doing. • MOVE TOWARDS SELF–COACHING: No blathering about how many mistakes you made… Self-Coach using KEY WORDS! • BRING LUNCH & PLENTY OF FLUIDS. • DON’T GET AHEAD OF YOURSELF: LISTEN To the objective & ALL instructions.FOCUS Watch the demo! SAVE Questions until these have been completed.
