Spiritual gifts • (Romans 12:6-8) We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. {7} If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; {8} if it is encouraging, let him encourage… • (1 Peter 4:10) Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.
Philip the Evangelist • (Acts 8:34-35) The eunuch asked Philip, "Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?" {35} Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. • (Acts 8:40) Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea.
The role of Pastor/Teachers in the Church • “…Pastors and Teachers to prepare God’s people for works of service…” (Eph. 4:12a) • God didn’t intend spiritual leaders to do all the ministry; spiritual leaders are to equip the church to do ministry. • Traditional Religious View – Churches hire pastors to serve/do ministry for them. • Biblical View – Pastors/Teachers are to serve the church by equipping all to do ministry.
