Temperature • The average temperature is 50° • The temperature changes with the seasons • Mild summers averaging 70 ° depending on the state. • Winter temperatures are cool with temperatures below freezing. • Usually windy because it is close to the Ocean.
Climate • It has 4 seasons, they are Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer. As the seasons change so do the colors of the leaves on trees. • Windy because it is near oceans
Precipitation • The average rainfall is 30-60 inches a year. • There is not much rain in the winter months. Depending on the state, some areas receive snow in the winter.
Landforms • There are mostly flat lands, hills and mountains. • Rivers, Lakes, Dams and Swamps are nearby the forests.
Continent • They are found on almost all continents • Large forests are mostly in North America, Europe and Asia
Problems in the Deciduous Forest • Air pollutants from fuels we burn are destroying forests, it is killing our wildlife and poisoning the soil • Acid rain is damaging leaves of trees • Clearning land for agriculture and logging • Forest Fires sometimes
American Bald Eagle • The bald eagle is a bird and a carnivore • They eat mostly fish but also birds, small mammals, and turtles and reptiles • They live in nests in tall pine trees. Sometimes they build their nest on the ground if there are no animals that will harm them • It survives by seeing 4 times better and further than humans. Because it can see its prey.
Black Bear • The black bear is a omnivore because it eats carcasses, honey, plants, berries, small mammals and insects. • It has strong molar teeth to help grind food • It can store up to 30 lbs of food for the winter and their thick fur keeps it warm • Their sharp claws help them climb trees if they are in danger
White-Tailed Deer • Males can weigh up to 400 lbs. • They mostly feed before dawn and some in the afternoon. • They eat green plants in the summer and nuts during the winter. • The deer was almost wiped out because of hunting but now there are laws • They have good eyesight and can hear good and can smell danger
European Red Squirrel • They have strong teeth to help them eat pinecones and seeds • They are herbivores because they eat pinecones and seeds and plants. • It can climb fast so it can be protected • If it is mad it will wave its tail like a flag • It lives in trees and roams the ground
Bobcat • A bobcats weight range is between thirteen and twenty three pounds • A bobcats body is striped, blotchy • They also eat rodents, birds, bats, and evenadult deer, and cotton rats, foxes, minks ,skunks, small dogs, and domesticated cats • They have very sharp teeth the bobcats claws are designed to help it climb and catch its prey and can be pulled inside there toes
