Outreach youth work (20.8.2010/693) • ”The purpose of outreach youth services is to reach a young person in need of support and helphim/herto find servicesthatwillpromotehis/hergrowth and independence and his/heraccess to education and to the labour market. Outreach youth work is primarily based on informationprovidedby the young person and on his/herownestimate of need of support.” • ”In arrangingoutreach youth work, the localauthorityshalldesignate a localpostholderor a person employedby the localauthority as the officialresponsible for implementingoutreach youth work. The outreach youth workermusthavenecessaryeducation and experience of workingwithyoungpeople..”

(20.8.2010/693) • An educationprovidermustdeliverinformationaboutschool-leaverwhohasnotsoughtorgainedentry to post-compulsoryeducation. • An education providermustdeliverinformationabout person under 25 years of agewhodiscontinuesstudies in vocationalor general uppersecondaryeducation • the DefenceForces and the non-military Service Training center mustdeliverinformationabout person under 25 years of agewhohasexemptionfrommilitaryornon-militaryserviceowing to non-fitness for serviceorwhodiscontinues the service.

Outreach Youth Work and Co-operation with Defence Forces • Time out! -Getting life back on track. • Organisedby the National institute for health and welfare. • Time out is a co-operativemodelinvolving the participatingmunicipalities, the FinnishDefenceForses and the Ministry of Employment and the Economy. • Itenables an activeoffer of support to youngmen in the context of medicalcheckups for conscriptsor of interruptedservice.
